KEP Mission Emphasis Month
This month at chapel, we are focusing on Missionaries – God’s people who tell others about Jesus. Brian and Jody Williams are missionaries in Cambodia. Mrs. Williams was a preschool director before leaving for Cambodia four years ago. They have been home for the last three months for a visit. Mrs. Williams came to share with us about living in Cambodia in December. She shared about their homes, transportation, religion, school and toys which the children play. She brought clothing for the children to try on and spoke with them about jobs children would have in Cambodia. Mrs. Williams trains ladies, while sharing the gospel, to have their own business and to support their children. One way is through childcare which is why she is helping a Cambodian start a Christian preschool. Her husband works with young men and has a bicycle ministry (repairing and providing them) since that is the mode of transportation.
Mrs. McFarland introduced us to missionaries around the world and then brought the lesson to how children can serve Jesus as a missionary right here. She discussed praying, sharing, helping others, and giving. At our chapel in January, we reviewed Cambodia and Mrs. William’s visit. The children made an ornament to help remind them to pray for them.
For our mission project, which will run for one month, January 10 – February 10, we will collect pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and bills towards purchasing items for a start up Christian Preschool in Cambodia. This preschool will present the gospel to the children and parents in a Buddhist nation. We are hoping to raise $400.00 or $80 per class to purchase many requested items, all to teach color and shapes. Several of the items we are purchasing are color books, shape books, a colorful parachute, color paddles, color and shape beanbags and large stringing beads.
Now, I am suggesting you help your child find chores or activities in order to raise his/her money to bring into the classroom. Use this time to teach your child about money and giving a portion to others. There is a container in each classroom to collect funds.
Thank you for participating in helping your child understands the role of missionaries and how we serve others here in our own homes, community and school.
